The other morning, I was out walking early and I came across a fox.
I looked up from my inner contemplations and there she was.
A light tan vision, ears swiveling just standing there at the top of the hill.
Immediately, I froze, and felt the acknowledgement pass between us.
I see you.
We stood there for several minutes, just watching each other (a fox watching a fox). I slowed my breathing and waited and observed.
Eventually, she began to sniff around and then trotted off. I was left with deep feelings of awe.
I always feel this way when moments like this happen. It feels like a beautiful secret to share with the natural world. A glimpse into the magic that is possible. I am always grateful.
Magic is afoot at this time of year as the spring blossoms begin to emerge and dance in the wind. The green beings begin to return and the blessing of rain comes sweetly to the grey earth.
You are alive. You are a product of the fertile earth. You are fire and light and passion, all wrapped in your earth skin.
Come with me, let us go to the soil and trees and listen. Let's get still and daydream, for it is Beltane and the world is waking up.
Beltane is May 1st in the Northern Hemisphere.
Beltane is a beautiful time when the entire world seems to be filled with such aliveness.
It is the perfect opportunity to gather inspiration from the color, life and fire of the natural world and turn it into something compelling and creative within.
What is coming alive in you as spring begins to seep merrily into the landscape?
A suggestion for contemplation:
On Beltane morning, go outside.
Find the beauty in the presence of your breath. Truly, delight in the act of breathing.
Then find a tree or flower to send all that beautiful energy toward, BREATHE with the tree or flower, and feel your connection in the reciprocity.
Then bring forth a vision in your mind's eye of something that you would like to create with the fertile energy of Spring.
Let that blossom within you and send the energy out on your breath.
FEEL it coming back to you with all the flavors of delight and beauty and awe of the season.
Finally, ground your vision within you. Feel your feet on the earth and the abundance of magic and miracles of this energy returning to you in form.
Report back, did you have any secret encounters with the natural world? I want to hear about them.
