Seasonal rituals & wisdom for the earth year.
Happy Holidays everyone! I know that we are all feeling the effects of the strange and long year that is 2020. Many of us are exhausted, burned out, traumatized, confused, lonely and overwhelmed (where my Sensitives at?!).
On the other hand, this year has provided many, the time for contemplation, change, deep personal work and new ways of thinking. I know this is a simplistic summation of a complicated year but I thought we all could use some direction and help (even if it is something as simple as gifts), no matter where we fall on the spectrum of things. This year, I have put together a Holiday Gift Guide. These are items and businesses that are largely women owned, BIPOC owned, local to Colorado or small businesses I know of in other places. I looked for beauty, innovation and a sense of spirit in my selections. I hope you enjoy the list and I hope it inspires you to support these businesses this Holiday Season and beyond. I know that your support of my small business this year has helped to keep me afloat. I have so much gratitude for you! Without further ado...here is the list.......

Twilight rises up from the earth, and a cold wind blows from the north. Night time comes swiftly across the land. Pumpkins grace porches and steps and a thin frost covers the early morning landscape.
The harvest has been completed and the winter season whispers from so close at hand. Trees, plants and patches of earth are bare and lonely, not quite winter not quite the end of autumn. Dry leaves scatter from every end of the field and swirl together in a blustery spiral. Now is the time of Halloween or Samhain (Sow-en) the Celtic New Year. It is time to honor the one's who have passed over and to honor our ancestors. This liminal time is full of magic and mystery and is my favorite time of year. If you would like to have some fun, SHARPEN YOUR INTUITIVE SKILLS and learn some energy tools, let's get together (virtually) for an
Intuitive Class/Intuitive Game night! We will play with the senses and ways to open the doors to our perception. Play intuitive games (curious about what those are?) and share our findings. This class is for beginners and seasoned intuitives alike!! Pre registration is required by October 15th. Friends and family welcome! $35USD Email folkloreandfern@gmail.com 1. Take a Bath: One of the fastest ways to clear your energy field is to take a bath with Epsom salts, Dead Sea Salts or Himalayan Sea Salts and your favorite essential oils. Suggestions: Lemon, Pine, Rose, Sweet Majoram Essential Oils 2. Purification: There have been scientific studies showing the efficacy of burning herbs to clear and purify the energy of a space. Clearing your personal bubble is no different. Light your favorite plants and use the smoke to clear all the burdens you. Suggestions: (Dried) Sage, Lavender, Mugwort, Palo Santo or a favorite insence 3. Stretch: Moving your body is a sure way to move the energy around you. Get up and move around your space. Bend and twist and sway. Suggestion: Pretend your arms and hands are brooms and "sweep" the space around your body. 4.Spend Time Outside: We all need a good does of vitamin 'N', nature! Especially now. The energetic exchange you have with the elements outside are a powerful way to cleanse and renew your energy. Suggestion: Find a tree you can sit next to and lean on. Take a few deep breaths and imagine the tree taking the energy you are releasing all the way down its roots and into the center of the earth to be recycled. 5. Glow: This is an advanced technique that can be very effective. Find a quiet place to be for a moment or two, Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Imagine a glowing golden light that starts in your chest and radiates throughout your entire body. Imagine this light spilling outward in all directions. Suggestion: Imagine this energy is LOVE. Enjoy your new found clarity and relief!
It's time for the New Year's tidings and ringing in the new...
...and like an exhale releasing the old.. The anticipation for the New Year and all it may hold is palpable. Anything is possible. Beautiful tables are set for feasts of savory and sweet, places are set for community and glass goblets are filled with golden bubbles. Altars are made fresh with evergreens and juniper incense. Crystals are given cleansing baths under the pale winter moon. There is an air of expectation. A vast potential enfolds us and ripples out in all directions. Who do we want to be this year, what adventures will unfold, what beauty will we see, what love will we embrace? It can be an emotional time of year.
The pressures from friends and family, food and drink…. Presents, parties, long nights, wintry weather, loneliness, angst, drama, longing, desire, dynamics, fear, expectations, obligations, guilt…. As well as, love, light, connection, desire, togetherness, joy, comfort, ease, satisfaction, delight, safety, giving, sparkling light, color, cozy fires, warmth…. Wherever you find yourself in the continuum it can be helpful to have a few special tricks to help navigate all the energy of the season. Cruise through this time with more energy, stamina and lightness. Feel the effects of stress and its imminent depletion melt away. Spring is a ripe and beautiful time. The quickening of the earth can be felt in our own bodies...in our bones...
We feel the pull outward from inside our Winter's nest, where we have resided all the cold, dark months. There is something in the air and in the light that can inspire us deeply in the Spring. We long for a freshness, perhaps a way to cast aside our old self and step into the new. We have the very real energetic support of the Earth awakening to support that intention. The candles are lit and the altar is overflowing with delicious foods. There is soft music playing and the smell of sweet grass in the air. Outside the sky is a rosy blue color and February's chill is in the air. Inside, the stove is bubbling with honey, cream and pure vanilla. Magic is afoot as we stoke the inner creative flame of passion and sensuality.
There have been a few times in my life where the strong voice of clarity seemed to reach out to me..
where everything around me seemed to stop and I tumbled down into a place within myself of the deepest, most profound truth. I knew, without words, exactly what I was supposed to do next. The hot breath of summer begins to wind into cooler fall nights. The corn is "as high as the elephant's eye" and festivals, fairs and carnivals abound. The sun and rain have lovingly bathed the land for many months and the wee seeds we planted are mature and full of life.
We feel the excitement of the first harvest of the season. Our hard work is beginning to bear fruit. This is where we begin the Autumn Session of Mystery School. Sacrifice, death, rebirth, nurturance, transformation are all aspects to consider at this time of year. We must consider the joys of life and the ways we may fill up our inner well with the life, light and nutrients from the sun and plants at this time of year, in preparation for the dark nights and cold ahead. |
